Chan Rob Les

A Sunny Detour

As hard as me and the boys have been working this year, driving across the country and making real connections with real lawyers, we thought it would be best to make a little time for ourselves. As hard as we’ve been working on getting interviews, we can take a little time off, right?

Of course, we did need to justify the trip all the way to sunny California—we couldn’t take the whole time off, after all.

Luckily, we caught a few lawyers who were interested in talking about some recent successes, and when we got that confirmation, we got out our Bermuda shorts and our sunglasses and hit the road.

Surf’s Up!

Of course, our first stop on the coast had to be the beach. I’ve loved the beach ever since I was a kid, and Rob and Les had never seen the country’s West Coast properly. So, we headed straight for the sand to dip our toes in.

Personally, I’m a fan of a good beach chair, a good book, and the perfect view of the ocean. The others, though, are a little more restless.

Rob had always wanted to learn to surf, and while we weren’t planning to be here that long, we couldn’t begrudge him the opportunity. Besides, watching him wipe out over and over was pretty funny. Eventually, though, he dragged himself and his board back on the beach.

“Well,” he said, “I don’t think I have a career in surfing, but hey, if we’ve got that GoPro laying around, maybe tomorrow I could film a couple things out there.”

He may not have a career in surfing, but he’s clearly made for filming.

Back to Work

We couldn’t ignore our duties forever, but it’s not like we don’t love what we do anyway. Honestly, it was kind of nice to get back to work and get back to some really great interviews.

We showed up to the offices of Dickson Kohan & Bablove, LLP a little early, too sunburned to sleep well. Still, it wasn’t like we were the ones on camera, and they didn’t seem to mind how pink we were. Fortunately, we were able to power through the sting of sunburns and get some great footage and some great answers to our questions.

Making the Most of Our Break

Getting a little sun was exactly what we needed. We’ve had a lot of setbacks lately, and honestly, morale has been a little low. Filming and editing isn’t the easiest job, and taking one step forward and two steps back gets exhausting after a while.

Still, we’re on track once again, and we’re feeling good about it. Before we left, Rob took off on his board once last time, and he actually stayed upright for a few seconds this time. Personally, I think it was the perfect note to end on, as our week-long vacation ended and our work began again in earnest.

Now, we’re back on the road, heading off to our next destination. Where? Stay tuned for our next update and learn more about our project as we seek out our next attorney interviews.
